How i set a hard deposit limit and stuck to it - rak_rob - 05-03-2026

Been doing this a long time and the only thing that ever actually worked for me was a hard deposit limit, so sharing in case it helps someone.

For years I told myself I'd "just be sensible". Didn't work. The phone makes it too easy, three taps and you've topped up again. What changed it was setting an actual limit in the account settings and, this is the bit, making it a pain to raise.

Most offshore sites let you set a monthly or weekly deposit cap. I set mine low, lower than felt comfortable. Then I kept a separate USDT wallet that I only fund once at the start of the month. When it's empty, that's it. No card on file, no quick top up.

The limit raise on a decent site has a cooling off delay, 24 hours or more. That delay alone has saved me twice.

Anyone else got a method that holds up, or is it just me overthinking it?

Not overthinking, this is the smart way round it honestly.

The separate wallet trick is what works for me too. I top up one e-wallet at the start of the month and never link the main account. The friction is the whole point, if it's slightly annoying to add money you stop and think.

What I'd warn about: not every offshore site honours the cooling off properly. A couple I tried let me raise the limit instantly which defeats the purpose. So I stick to the ones where the delay is actually enforced.

Good thread and the right one to have here, because there's no local protection backstopping any of this. The limit you set is basically the only limit there is.

One thing I'd push on. Deposit limits are good but they're a tool the operator controls, and on a Curacao site that's not regulated for us, you're trusting them to enforce it honestly. Most do. Some don't.

So I pair it with the wallet method like you and Lena. Hard cap that lives on my side, not just theirs. Belt and braces.

Same setup here basically. I'll add the boring technical bit: I keep the gambling wallet on a completely separate seed from my real holdings. Funded monthly, fixed amount, done.

Means even if I'm tilted at 2am there's just nothing there to deposit. The cap isn't a setting I can talk myself out of, it's an empty wallet. Cooling off on the site is the second layer for the days I do still have a balance left.
